Sodium fluoride is used in toothpastes, mouth rinses, and other dental products to prevent cavities and reduce tooth and gum sensitivity. It works by making teeth stronger. 

·        Water fluoridation

Sodium fluoride is often added to drinking water supplies to help prevent cavities. 

·        Insecticide, rodenticide, and herbicide

Sodium fluoride is toxic to all forms of life and can be used as an insecticide, rodenticide, and herbicide. However, its toxicity to plants has limited its use as an insecticide to bait formulations. 

·        Wood preservative

Sodium fluoride can be used as a fungicide to preserve timber. 

·        Other uses

Sodium fluoride is also used in chemical cleaning, electroplating, and the manufacture of glass.
